What to Expect in Worship
Our worship services are in a traditional liturgical style. Songs are accompanied by our organist, with special music provided by the Adult Choir, Sunday School children, and other small ensembles. Once a month (usually on the 4th Sunday) our folk/country worship band SonRise leads our singing. Our worship schedule can be seen on the home page.
We participate in worship with spoken responses and singing. Several scripture readings are read and a sermon is proclaimed. We celebrate Holy Communion on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. All the baptized (including children) are welcome to receive this meal of grace.
A children's message is part of every service. While we do have a supervised nursery available during the service, we treasure the presence of children in worship!
About our Community
Zion is a vibrant congregation where people of all ages can know Jesus and make Jesus known.
Responding to God's gift of grace, love, and forgiveness through Jesus Christ, we are committed to serving others in Jesus' name through ministries in our community and around the world.
For mroe than 125 years, Zion has been at work in Lake Crystal to help our community grow in faith, find encouragement, and experience caring fellowship.
What We Believe
As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), we are part of a tradition that emphasizes the saving grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ, unity among Christians, and service in the world. The ELCA's roots are in the writings of the German church reformer, Martin Luther. The ELCA is one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with more than 3.7 million members in more than 9,300 congregations across the 50 states and in the Caribbean region. We are part of the Southeastern Minnesota Synod, a regional network of 175 congregations with a total of 121,000 members.
Pastor Andrea J. Myers has served as Zion's pastor since 2014. She was ordained in 2009 and previously served congregations in Albert Lea, MN and Conroe, TX (internship). She is a graduate of Wartburg Theological Seminary (MDiv) and the College of William & Mary (BS). Prior to seminary she worked in the software industry and was an active lay leader of her congregation's youth ministry programs.
Pastor Andrea's passion is nurturing healthy church communities that possess a clear sense of identity and shared purpose, in which individuals are equipped to grow in faith and to serve their neighbor with the love of Christ. She is a gifted leader and teacher, and especially enjoys ministry with junior high youth. She enjoys travel, knitting, and spending time with her husband Rev. Ronald Myers.
